1. Product specifications
1.1. BESS container overview
Each BESS 20C2500K is assembled in one 20 feet container

The -20C2500K includes 4 battery packs per string with a rated output voltage of 690V, and each inverter has a rated power of 430kW.
1.2. BESS container architecture
The BESS container has a modular architecture with:
Liquid cooled battery packs made with LFP cells and a Battery Management Unit (BMU).
Battery strings with a String Controller (CMU).
Separate AC/DC Inverters (PCS) for each battery string.
Liquid temperature control system and HVAC dehumidifier.
Fire fighting system, auxiliary power.
BESS controller (GPC) to handle safety, automatic operation and data and control communication with external BESS and EMS SCADA
The 20C2500K system uses a customized container with a stronger load-bearing case and reinforcement steel frames in the middle while maintaining the same dimensions as a 20ft HC container. Anti-corrosion materials are used for the paint of the container shell to improve the anti-corrosion performance of the container.
The shell interlayer is installed with 50mm thermal insulation rock wool to improve the thermal insulation performance of the system.
In the battery compartment, there are battery Strings, liquid cooling unit, air conditioners for dehumidification and cable slots, etc. Lighting, thermal sensors, smoke sensors, firefighting pipe and other equipment are installed above the side aisle.
In the electrical compartment, there are PCS, GPC, Firefighting Control System, power distribution system ,air conditioner and auxiliary power supply.

The 20C2500K system uses a customized container with a stronger load-bearing case and reinforcement steel frames in the middle while maintaining the same dimensions as a 20ft HC container. Anti-corrosion materials are used for the paint of the container shell to improve the anti-corrosion performance of the container. Before delivery, the container can be painted with LOGO according to requirements from the buyer.
The shell interlayer is installed with 50mm thermal insulation rock wool to improve the thermal insulation performance of the system.
In the battery compartment, battery strings, high-voltage units and the PCS (PDU), as well as cable trays, are installed. The battery compartment is designed with single-side door access. Lighting, temperature detectors, smoke detectors, firefighting piping, and other equipment are installed above the side aisle.
In the electrical compartment, there are GPC, liquid chiller unit, air conditioner, firefighting control system, power distribution system.

1.7. Operating Environment
Operating temperature: -30~+50℃;
Relative humidity: No more than 95%, non-condensing;
No explosive media shall be allowed in the place of use;
No strong acid or alkali and other highly polluting substances that can be adhered to or inhaled by the equipment shall be allowed in the place of use;
The container must be horizontally installed on a hardened foundation, with cable slots on the ground for easy routing;
Do not install the equipment in low-lying areas to avoid flooding;
The container must be placed in a well-ventilated area. No obstacles are allowed within 300mm of the air inlet and outlet.
The area around the equipment should be protected according to local requirements to prevent non-professional personnel access.
Lightning protection measures should be placed around the equipment according to local or international standards and lightning protection requirements of the building or power plant equipment.

2. Battery system architecture
2.1. Battery pack
In the 20C2500K system, each battery pack contains 104 battery cells - the smallest unit in the battery system. The battery pack is standardized, easy to install and maintain, and features high energy density, consistency, reliability, and stability. The battery pack is designed with independent liquid cooling ducts inside, which provides good heat dissipation. The battery management unit (BMU), voltage sensors, and thermal sensors are also integrated in the pack to ensure the cells' stable performance.

2.2. Battery string
The battery string consists of 4 battery packs connected in series, every 8 battery packs and 1 HVU and 1 PCS mounted on 1 battery rack..
Each battery pack is equipped with a battery monitoring unit (BMU). The 8 BMUs are connected to the battery string central management system (CMU) through CANBUS. The CMU manages the battery string and uploads battery status information and DC contactors status to the RTU via Modbus TCP/IP and receives control commands from the GPC.

2.3. Battery system
The whole battery system comprises 12 battery strings connected. Each String's DC power distribution and battery management system are also integrated inside the cabinet and are modularly designed to be easy to install and maintain.
The total capacity of the battery system is 5,015kWh.

The GPC is the BESS system core to realize the whole system comprehensive logical control, operation model switch control, DC incoming control, blocking, protection and data communication and exchange.

3. Grid Point Controller (GPC)
The GPC is the BESS system core to realize the whole system comprehensive logical control, operation model switch control, DC incoming control, blocking, protection and data communication and exchange.

4. Power Conversion System (PCS)
The energy storage bidirectional power conversion system enables the bidirectional energy conversion between batteries and the grid AC power. Its core part is an inverter composed of power electronic components with embedded control software.

5. Battery Management System (BMS)
The Battery Management System (BMS) is composed of Battery Pack Management Unit (BMU) and Battery String Management Unit (CMU) which is connected to the GPC.
BMS has the functions of high-precision detection and reporting of analog signals, fault alarm, upload and storage, battery protection, parameter setting, passive equalization, Battery Module SOC calibration and information interaction with other equipment.
